Toni Gonzaga became emotional on today's episode of The Buzz where she interviewed Joey de Leon. It was the first time the two met after Toni left Eat Bulaga! to transfer to ABS-CBN in 2005.
Toni cried even before the interview started when Joey gave her a copy of the Eat Bulaga! coffee table book, Ang Unang Tatlong Dekada. He made Toni open the book to a certain page and the pretty tv host/singer/actress couldn't help but get emotional.
The page showed a picture of Toni with the hosts of the noontime show taken in the period when Toni was still with them.
Toni was especially touched because Eat Bulaga! was the first show she co-hosted and as she said, she learned all her hosting skills from Joey de Leon who was one of the pillars of the said show.
Despite being associated with ABS-CBN's rival channel, GMA-7, Joey guested in Kapamilya's The Buzz to promote the movie Won't Last a Day Without You which was produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films.
He's not that much active in the movies nowadays but the showbiz icon said he agreed to do Won't Last a Day Without You because of three things. One is that the role of a rocker dad appealed to him, second was because the lead star Sarah Geronimo was her favorite, and third was because he knew he would meet Toni in the process because the movie was co-produced by the film production subsidiary of ABS-CBN.
Joey de Leon trended worldwide on Twitter during his The Buzz guesting. TV fans, especially the fans of Toni, tuned in and twitted about the reunion of Joey and Toni. I, for one, wanted to see how it would turn out especially because Joey was so vocal with his feelings when Toni left Eat Bulaga!.
But all's well that ends well. Joey cleared the issue by saying he wasn't really mad at Toni at that time. He was sad and said things and the media just blew the issue up.
Aside from advices in hosting, Toni said Joey also told her not to have a "showbiz" boyfriend. She actually followed the advice. Although her boyfriend can be considered a celebrity because he's a director, he's still not part of the mainstream showbiz because he doesn't work in front of the camera.
Joey and Toni may have had hard feelings for each other before but now that time has healed the wounds, it can be told that they're now okay. Thanks to the Gerald Anderson-Sarah Geronimo starrer, Won't Last a Day Without You, which became instrumental in the reunion. The movie will have its regular run starting this Wednesday, November 30th, in theaters nationwide.
